ASU Women's Golf finishes 7th at Sun Belt Championship
Ala. (AStateRedWolves.com) – The Arkansas State women's golf team recorded a
final-round 323 Wednesday
at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, completing the three-day
tournament at the Steelwood Country Club in seventh place among eight
teams with a combined 955.
completed Monday's first round in eighth place with a 318, but moved
into a tie for seventh
yesterday after posting a 314. Freshman Maci Arrington posted the Red
Wolves' lowest score in two of the three rounds and ended the
tournament a team-best tied for 12th place.
carded a first-round 73 that was the lowest score of the tournament by
an A-State player.
She also shot a team-best 79 today to go along with a 77 yesterday,
giving her a combined 229. She collected her second-highest finish of
the season, which gave her four top-25 showings this season.
Marie Couffignal also finished among the top-25 individuals, completing
play tied for
17th place with a 235 (79-76-80). She recorded a second-round 76 that
was the second lowest score among the team for a single round. Like
Arrington, Couffignal's finish was her second best of the year, which
she ended with back-to-back top-25 performances.
Also competing for the Red Wolves, Courtney Manning finished in 32nd place with a 246 (82-79-85).
Abi Laker and Megan Garland both shot a 250 to finish tied for 35th place.
Troy claimed the tournament title with an 896, while Texas State finished second with a 902 and
South Alabama third with a 922.
