"Danielle's Hope:" Fundraiser set for Caddo teacher battling blood cancer

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A fundraiser is set for Thursday at a Shreveport restaurant to help support a Caddo Parish teacher battling blood cancer.

Danielle Lewis is a teacher and coach at Huntington High School in Shreveport has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

According to a gofundme.com site set up in her name, "Dee" Lewis will have a stem cell transplant at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. The procedure requires 3 months of total isolation. Organizers say the cost of her stay will be around $10,000 and will not be covered by insurance. 

A portion of all sales made between 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. during Thursday's fundraiser at McAlister's Deli on East 70th Street will go toward the support of her fight.
