ASU Women's Basketball signs Lauren Bradshaw

JONESBORO ( – Lauren Bradshaw, a 6-foot-2 forward from Mesquite, Texas, signed a national letter of intent with the Arkansas State women's basketball team at a ceremony at Mesquite Horn High School Thursday afternoon.

Bradshaw was a 2014 McDonald's All-America nominee and earned All-State honors from the Texas Girls Coaches Association. She was the 12-5A District Defensive Player of the Year and averaged a double-double with 12.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game during her senior season of high school.

"I'm very excited to finally get her signed after a long recruiting process," A-State head coach Brian Boyer said. "Offensively I love her versatility and one of the things we needed was post player that score. She can find ways to get her shot off in a lot of different ways on the court and she is a just a natural scorer at the post position."

Bradshaw helped lead Mesquite Horn to a 21-10 overall record in 2013-14, including wins in 14 of its final 16 games, and the District 12-5A title. She was invited to participate in the Texas High School All-Star game and helped her AAU team, Texas Hustle, reach the finals of the 17U Open Tournament in Dallas, Texas this past summer.

"I think she is the best high school shot blocker I have ever watched," Boyer said. "She has amazing timing and has knack a for it for the art of shot blocking."

A-State has now signed a total of five for the 2014-15 season after Akasha Westbrook, Christyal Holloway, Aalliyah Warren and Ogo Obinabo who signed during the early period in November.
