Smokehouse fire temporarily closes downtown Jonesboro restaurant

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A fire at a downtown Jonesboro restaurant caused traffic delays Friday morning.

Around 8:45 a.m. Jonesboro fire crews were called to Godsey's Grill to a report of a fire on the roof of the building. The fire broke out in the enclosed smokehouse area attached to the back of the restaurant building.

Jonesboro Fire Chief Kevin Miller said the fire was quickly controlled. No one was injured.

Main Street was closed for about two hours and Church Street for three as firefighters worked on the blaze.

The owners of the restaurant said they hope to be back open for business Saturday.
