Police: Husband says wife shot him, killed herself

MONROE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) -

Authorities in Monroe County are investigating a double shooting that left one woman dead.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the shooting occurred in the 2400 block of Fairview Street in Detroit Beach.

Deputies say shortly before 1 p.m. Friday, a 40-year-old man reported his 39-year-old wife had shot him and then shot herself. Deputies found the woman deceased when they responded to the scene.

The man had a gunshot wound and was transported to Oakwood Southshore Hospital. He is expected to survive.

Deputies say an investigation is ongoing, but preliminary findings are consistent with the man's initial 911 call.
