Police: Woman charged with trafficking stolen identities

STODDARD COUNTY, MO  (KAIT) – A southeastern Missouri woman was arrested on charges of trafficking stolen identities in Stoddard County, according to a news release from the Stoddard County Sheriff's Department.

According to a news release, Jennifer Marie Jerls, 24, of Puxico was given a $12,500 bond. She is accused of using several credit cards in someone else's name.

The probable cause affidavit stated that Jerls "used two credit devices for the purpose of obtaining property knowing that her use of the credit device was unauthorized." The affidavit stated that Jerls used the devices from May 7, 2011 until October, 2013. The affidavit stated that Jerls also used another person's "devices" between August and October, 2013.

At first, Jerls denied any wrongdoing and blames her mother, now deceased, according to the affidavit. She eventually admitted to using one of the victim's credit cards, according to the document.
