(WMC) – A former Mid-South pastor has been charged with sex crimes, some involving children. He was arrested Monday evening while officiating a graveside service.

Larry Michael Berkley was arrested in Covington, Tenn. at the Covington Memorial Gardens, but currently faces an indictment out of Arkansas.

Berkley was formerly the pastor at Victory Baptist Church in Henning, Tenn. He has been living in Arkansas and is wanted on charges out of Boone County in the northern part of that state.

Those charges include sexual assault in the first and second degree, five counts of knowingly supplying alcohol to minors, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, sexual solicitation, and two counts of loaning pornography to a minor.

WMC Action News 5's Janice Broach spoke with family members, and they say they have no knowledge of anything other than the former pastor being arrested on Monday at a graveside service.

"We don't know nothing. We don't really know nothing," said Berkley's father.

Berkley has strong ties to Covington. His Facebook page reveals he attended Covington High and Union University. According to Union University's director media relations, Berkley was enrolled for two semesters and did not earn any credits.

Berkley is being held Monday night on a $100,000 bond. The process to extradite him back to Arkansas will begin on Tuesday.

Victory Baptist Church released the following statement:

"Mr. Berkley has not been affiliated with Victory Baptist Church, Henning, Tenn, for more than two years now. We are saddened to hear the news of his alleged activity and are praying for him and healing for those involved."
