LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - An officer with the Longview Police Department resigned and a lieutenant with the department is under investigation after multiple allegations arose against the two.

Longview Police Department Chief Don Dingler said Officer Adam Vanover was investigated on charges that he engaged in sexual activity while on duty. Vanover announced his resignation from the department on April 25.

The investigation into Vanover was launched after allegations that he had accessed sexually explicit material while on duty. The police department became aware of downloads on the computer the officer was using. It was also alleged that he engaged in sexual conduct while on duty.

Lieutenant Ronald Buckner has been placed on administrative leave and is currently under investigation. Buckner is being investigated on allegations that he revealed details of an ongoing investigation to an unauthorized person. It is also alleged that Buckner engaged in conduct that negatively impacted the department and lied during an official police investigation.

Dingler said the investigation into Buckner is ongoing and is primarily based on witness statements. He did not say whether or not the allegations surrounding the two department employees are related.

Buckner's attorney released this statement to KLTV on Tuesday:

“Lieutenant Buckner is a well-respected, long-serving public servant, who has been wrongly accused of improperly disclosing details of the investigation concerning Officer Vanover. Ironically, the Longview Police Department is doing exactly what it wrongly accused Lt. Buckner of doing. Lieutenant Buckner does not appreciate the media or the Longview Police Department associating him with the conduct and actions of Officer Vanover.”
