Sign ups for annual Eco Camp underway

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Summer is right around the corner and what better way to spend those hot Texas days than filling it with games, music, and education.

It's time for the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce's annual Eco Camp.

This year's theme is Little Hands on the Farm and is aimed towards teaching children about the importance of keeping the environment clean and healthy.

Executive Director of Angelina Beautiful Clean Amanda Anderson said the best part of the camp is what the children take away from it at the end of the day.

"They go back to their homes, they go back to their parents and grandparents, schools and teachers, and they tell them what they learned about recycling and how to take better care of  our community," Anderson said.

The Eco Camp starts June 9th and runs until June 13th.

It runs 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.

Kindergarten to 4th graders can participate and it's $55 a child.

For more information or to sign up for the camp visit the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce web site.
