High winds spark grass fire near Reese Center

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock Fire Rescue says high winds helped fuel a grass fire Tuesday afternoon near Reese Center.

It happened around 4 p.m. at 19th and Research Boulevard.

Investigators believe sparks from a passing train initially caused the fire.

Crews say it quickly spread and caused a smaller grass fire about a mile away.

It took crews from LFD and the Carlisle Fire Department around 30 minutes to put both of the fires out.

Fortunately, there are no reports of injury or damage.
