Runaway pig stalls traffic on Arkansas interstate

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK, AR (AP) - Plenty of people were calling the hogs Thursday after a large pig escaped its trailer and ran around a busy Arkansas interstate, snarling traffic during the morning commute.

Arkansas State Police say the pig jumped out of its trailer and ran across Interstate 30 at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday in southwest Little Rock.

Authorities say the pig's owners tried to corral the animal, while state troopers attempted to surround the pig when it approached a police car.

Troopers tell the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette ( ) that the pig was eventually tackled, then killed.

Traffic started flowing again by midmorning Thursday.
