LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) – A United States Air Force captain was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury for distributing child pornography and possession of child pornography, according to a news release by U.S. Attorney Christopher Thyer.
According to Thyer, Shane Padilla, 30, of Jacksonville was arrested in early April following a criminal complaint. Padilla was required to give up his passport and pilot's license.
According to the release, investigators with Homeland Security looked into complaints that Padilla, while stationed at the Little Rock Air Force Base, received child pornography in his Yahoo email account. After a federal search warrant was issued, investigators claimed to have found numerous emails that contained images and videos of minors. The investigation revealed Padilla has more than 1,000 images and 100 videos on a number of electronic devices, the release stated.
Padilla, if convicted, faces anywhere from five to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
