Home destroyed by fire in Craighead County

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR  (KAIT) – Two people were left without a home after a fire destroyed their residence Friday morning, according to firefighters.

According to Valley View Volunteer Fire Captain Jeremy White, a home at 289 Craighead County Road 444 was destroyed in the fire. White said crews received a 911 call at 11:39 Friday morning. When they arrived on the scene, the home was fully involved.

White said his crew requested assistance from the Cash and Weiner Volunteer Fire Departments. No one was at the home at the time of the fire.

One firefighter was injured when he twisted his knee during cleanup, but no one else was hurt in the fire. The home belonged to a man and his wife.

Investigators were unsure how the fire started, and were putting out hotspots hours after the initial report.
