MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Alabama State University police are still searching for a suspect involved in a sexual assault on campus.

Alabama State University Police Chief James Graboys released the following statement on Wednesday:

"The ASU Police Department is thoroughly and methodically looking into each and every lead developed in this ongoing investigation. The investigative and judicial processes require that certain levels of evidence must be developed prior to the naming or charging of any suspect in an offense. At the present time, all leads are being followed and considered, including any submitted to us from any source. When we have gathered viable, accurate and pertinent evidence to allow us to arrest, name and charge a specific suspect, that information will be made available to the public."

According to the incident report, a rape was reported on May 10 around 11:15 p.m. at 1173 Ross Dunn Drive, a new campus dormitory.

ASU Police Chief James Graboys describes the suspect as a short, stocky male.  At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hoodie, gray sweat pants, a red and brown mask and gloves. Graboys advises everyone use extreme caution, as the suspect could be armed.

He would not confirm if the victim knew her perpetrator or if the victim called immediately after the crime occurred.

Graboys said ASU students were notified about the sexual assault by email. He couldn't immediately produce a copy of the email for WSFA 12 News.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 334-215-STOP.
