JONESBORO, AR  (KAIT) – A Jonesboro man was released from the Craighead County Jail after being arrested for second degree sexual assault, according to documents provided to Region 8 News.

According to an incident report filed with Arkansas State University Police, a 19-year old woman told investigators that Curtis Sherrod Cohen, 20, of Jonesboro sexually assaulted her in a room at North Park Quads.

According to the probable cause affidavit in Jonesboro District Court, the woman became Cohen's friend on Instagram, and early Friday morning, he invited her to watch a movie in a room at North Park Quads.

The affidavit stated Cohen assaulted her while she was trying to watch a movie. She claimed her forced himself onto her.

The affidavit further stated that she was able to leave and went back to her room, where her roommate was awakened by her crying. The roommate then called University Police.

The incident report stated, Cohen asked a female officer is she was married and if he could get her phone number while he was sitting in the interview room.

Cohen was charged with second degree sexual assault, which can carry a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $15,000 fine. Cohen has no prior criminal history.

Cohen was released Friday on a $1,500 bond. He was ordered to appear at the Craighead County Courthouse on June 30, 2014.
