Wheelchair bound Atlanta man escapes after tree falls on home

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

An elderly man who uses a wheelchair to get around escaped unharmed after a tree fell onto his southwest Atlanta home Wednesday night.

It happened at about 8:45 p.m. on Shirley Street. According to an officer who was guarding the home early Thursday morning, the tree fell from the backyard onto the home, heavily damaging two rooms.

Neighbors came to the man's aid and are allowing him to stay in their home until repairs are made, the officer said.
