HARDY, AR (KAIT) – A wreck in Hardy sent one man to the hospital, and another man to jail.

According to an incident report from the Sharp County Sheriff's Department, officers were called out to a head-on wreck on Bluff Road in Hardy on Friday, May 9.

Police said John E. Terrell was driving his pickup truck when he crossed the center line and hit an SUV head-on. While investigating the crash, officers determined Terrell was driving left of the center line when the crash happened.

A passenger in the SUV was taken to the Fulton County Hospital, then transferred to a Little Rock hospital for further treatment.

According to the report, Terrell told officers he smoked marijuana before driving. He reportedly told officers he gave Hardy Police Chief Ernie Rose a gun before officers arrived to the crash scene.

Officers arrested Terrell and searched his vehicle. According to police, officers found drugs and drug paraphernalia, along with a .380 semi-automatic pistol and two magazines.

During a drug test at the county jail, police said Terrell tested positive for meth, marijuana and benzodiazepines (a psychoactive drug).

Police have charged Terrell with DWI-drugs, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a weapon, careless driving, driving left of center, expired vehicle license and no proof of insurance.
