BALD KNOB, AR (KAIT) – A man suspected of murder in Bald Knob was captured in Michigan.
According to White County Chief Deputy Phillip Miller, Robert "Bobby" Draft, 50 is suspected of killing his father-in-law Douglas Cloyes, 72.
Draft had been on the run from authorities until he was taken into custody Monday afternoon in Detroit, Michigan.
Miller said the sheriff's department received a domestic disturbance call from Barber Road in Bald Knob shortly after 5 p.m. on May 18 involving Draft and his wife. During the incident Draft acquired a firearm. According to Miller, Draft's wife was able to get away from him to seek medical treatment.
Detectives discovered Cloyes was at his home when he made contact with Draft. When deputies arrived, they found Cloyes in the yard dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Miller said Cloyes' body will be sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
Miller said Draft will be charged with first degree murder and domestic battery. He is being held in Michigan and will be extradited back to Arkansas.
