JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Fishing fanatics in Region 8 will now have a new place in Craighead County to angle.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission opened Bono Lake to the public. Five hundred pounds of catfish were dumped into lake on Tuesday afternoon.
Brett Timmons with the AGFC said this is only the beginning of what is to come.
"Over the next month we will have access for people to get here with boats and for people to drive to the lake's edge to fish," said Timmons.
Sunfish, blue gill, and red gill fish are scheduled to be dumped in the fall.
Timmons also said by 2017, crappie will be dumped at the lake for people to reel in.
He said AGFC hopes to have 400 fish per acre at the lake.
