GEAUGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

A Geauga County Judge has approved a settlement for the families of three students killed in the February 2012 shooting at Chardon High School.

The family of the student gunman has settled with the families of Demetrius Hewlin, Russell King, Jr. and Danny Parmertor.

Each family will receive about $899,000. 19 Action News has learned attorneys will get 40% of that settlement.

Victim families still have a pending lawsuit against the Chardon School District, and the alternative school the gunman attended.

The student gunman was sentenced to serve three life prison sentences. An appeal has since been filed.
