State Crime Lab Completes Investigation in Murder of Gilmore Girl

NOVEMBER 13, 2004 - Posted at 3:18 p.m. CST

MARION, AR - Much anticipated results from the state Crime Lab's investigation of the August kidnapping and murder of 7-year-old Patricia Ann Miles of Gilmore have finally been returned to the Crittenden County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators and prosecutors handling the case plan to meet late next week to discuss the findings.  Further charges are anticipated in the case.  Police charged Jo Ann Buchanan of Gilmore with kidnapping shortly after the girl's disappearance.  She is currently being held in the Crittenden County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Patricia Miles was last seen alive at a Gilmore grocery store on the morning of August 14.  Buchanan was arrested the next day.  Searchers found Miles' body approximately one week later in a field in nearby Mississippi County.
