New splash pad opens at Parker Park

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - People will be making a splash at Parker Park in Jonesboro this Memorial Day.

Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin and Wixson Huffstetler, Director of Joneboro Parks and Recreation, met to check out the new "splash pad". The water attraction has been in the works for about a year.

"We don't have any water features on this side of town and this is a continuous plan. I hope that we'll be able to put these across the whole town to offer this to all the kids and not just in certain sections of the city," said Huffstetler.

"I think it will increase the utilization more, probably of this park," said Mayor Perrin. "And you see, we also have the playground equipment here.  We also have several picnic areas, so I think families can come here and enjoy and we encourage that."

The project cost around $200,000. It was funded through the Community Development Block Grant.
