JPD rides to promote drug-free community

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department have decided to make a journey across the state to promote being drug-free.

Around 30 officers and community members met in downtown Jonesboro for the DARE Bike Ride.

The ride is the way these officers hope to not only raise money for the Jonesboro Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program, but bring awareness in other communities about living drug-free.

The officers will take a 300-mile bike ride starting in Junction, Louisiana, then go to Missouri, and then back into Arkansas.

Jamie Seaborn has made the ride before and said she is looking forward to the experience.

"It's fun to meet new people and this kind of ride," said Seaborn. "You really get to meet a lot of new people and get to interact with them and you really get to see the support of the police department."

This is the third year Jonesboro police has made the trip.
