JPD rides to promote drug-free community

JONESBORO,AR (KAIT) – Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department have decided to makea journey across the state to promote being drug-free.

Around 30officers and community members met in downtown Jonesboro for the DARE BikeRide.

The rideis the way these officers hope to not only raise money for the Jonesboro DrugAbuse Resistance Education Program, but bring awareness in other communitiesabout living drug-free.

Theofficers will take a 300-mile bike ride starting in Junction, Louisiana, thengo to Missouri, and then back into Arkansas.

Jamie Seabornhas made the ride before and said she is looking forward to the experience.

"It's fun tomeet new people and this kind of ride," said Seaborn. "You really get to meet alot of new people and get to interact with them and you really get to see thesupport of the police department."

This is thethird year Jonesboro police has made the trip.
