POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -

A Randolph County circuit court judge sentenced a Pocahontas woman to a four year probation for stealing thousands of dollars meant to purchase and install headstones.

Mary Waddell, 68, of Pocahontas pleaded guilty in October to felony theft of property over $25,000, according to the sentencing order. Waddell was also ordered to pay $42,284 in restitution along with nearly $800 in fines, court costs and fees. Waddell will not spend any time in jail.

According to the Pocahontas Police Department, Waddell took payments at Pocahontas Monument, formerly Cawvey Monument, and pocketed the money. Police Chief Cecil Tackett said more than 30 people came forward with claims against Waddell.

Waddell was arrested in Mississippi after she was reported missing from Pocahontas in May, 2014.

After Arkansas State Police issued a Silver Alert for Waddell, surveillance video showed her at a Tunica casino.

Before her sentencing, a judge required Waddell to seek counseling for gambling addiction.

A court employee said Waddell has paid all victims restitution, court costs and fees.
