Man accused of stealing silver, guns from safe arrested

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT) – A Mountain Home man was arrested after an investigation into a theft from a safe.

According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, Mitchell Teconchuk, 18, was arrested on May 30.

Montgomery said a theft was reported from a safe on Mudridge Lane near Mountain Home on May 11. The homeowner told the sheriff's office silver coins, silver certificates and silver bars were among the items taken including a shotgun and pistol. The total value of the items taken was $20,000.

During an investigation into the theft, the sheriff's office found Teconchuk had pawned several silver bars and coins at two separate pawn shops between April 30 and May 7.

Teconchuk is charged with felony breaking or entering and theft of property. He is in the Baxter County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

He will be in court June 19.
