Pierce and Formon to Participate in Mayoral Forums This Week

NOVEMBER 15, 2004 - Posted at 3:14 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - The two candidates running for Mayor of Jonesboro will each participate in political forums this week.

The first event is set for Wednesday in the TV studios at Arkansas State University, and is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Jonesboro.  The 90-minute event begins at 8 p.m. and will be televised live on ASU-TV.  Mayoral run-off candidate Dan Pierce will participate in the Wednesday event, but his opponent, Doug Formon, will not participate due to a prior commitment.

Both candidates for alderman in the Ward 6, position 2 race, Richard Carvell and Jimmy Ashley will participate, as will Ward 4, position 2 candidate Mitch Johnson.  Johnson's opponent, Donald Mullenix declined the invitation due to another commitment.

Meanwhile, both Mayoral candidates will participate in what the Triple-FM Radio Group is billing as a "one-hour drive-time radio event" on its three radio stations.  Formon and Pierce have each agreed to participate in the event at the Triple FM studios in downtown Jonesboro Thursday evening from 5 to 6 p.m.  The program will be broadcast simultaneously on The Fox (104.9), Z-100 Rocks (100.5) and Mix 106.7.  The program will be moderated by Triple FM air personalities Trey Stafford, Bill Pressly and Brett Hall.
