JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - High school students from all over Region 8 are spending part of their summer delving into medicine.
UAMS Northeast is hosting its annual MASH program. Twenty students are learning about the many areas of medicine from the experts. Madison Ermert will be a senior at Corning High School next year. She got a hands on look at veterinary medicine.
"You get to see what's really happening in real life in the medical field and you get to see how, what the people in that field do on a day to day basis," said Ermert.
"Our job is to set them up in a lot of different areas whether it's in a vet clinic or in the hospital maybe with eye surgery," said Yalanda Merrell, Health Profession Recruiter. "Anything like that so they can say okay this is what I really want to do or maybe this is not what I want to do."
The MASH program has expanded to Blytheville and Newport.
