DEXTER, MO (KAIT/AP) - The case against a former southeast Missouri pastor and two people enlisted to burn his home and kill his wife was continued to July 17, according to the Stoddard County Circuit Court.

Donald Lafferty, 69, of Dexter was arrested and given a $750,000 bond for getting Brandy Hicks, 33 and her husband, Chris Hicks, 34, to kill his wife. Lafferty was originally given no bond.

Lafferty was arrested in New England. He moved to Quechee, Vermont, after a January 2013 fire at his rural Bloomfield, Missouri, home.

Lafferty is charged with attempted murder, armed criminal action and first-degree arson. He is also charged with financial exploitation of the elderly in a separate case involving his mother.

Brandy and Chris Hicks are both accused of attempted murder and arson. They were both jailed on $750,000 bond.

All three will appear in court July 17th at 2:00 p.m.
