Severe weather moving through Region 8

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Today holds a high chance of severe weather across Region 8.  As we move throughout the day we will watch a thunderstorm complex make its way across the Southern Plains.

As they move towards Region 8 be sure to be prepared for severe weather.  The system will move into the Ozark region around noon and then make it's way into the Jonesboro area near 3 p.m.

We will finally see the system cross the Mississippi River by the time we head into the late afternoon hours.  The primary threats associated with the storms today will be a high chance of lightning, a high chance of damaging winds, a medium chance of damaging hail and a low chance of a tornado.

Areas that see more thunderstorms may also experience minor flooding.  This will not be our only chance for severe weather this week as we will see a chance of severe storms all of the way through Saturday.

Be sure to remain weather aware as we head through the next few days.
