Severe weather moving through Region 8

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Today holds a high chance of severe weather across Region 8.  As we move throughout the day we will watch a thunderstorm complex make its way across the Southern Plains.

As they move towards Region 8 be sure to be prepared for severe weather.  The system will move into the Ozark region around noon and then make it's way into the Jonesboro area near 3 p.m.

We will finally see the system cross the Mississippi River by the time we head into the late afternoon hours.  The primary threats associated with the storms today will be a high chance of lightning, a high chance of damaging winds, a medium chance of damaging hail and a low chance of a tornado.

Areas that see more thunderstorms may also experience minor flooding.  This will not be our only chance for severe weather this week as we will see a chance of severe storms all of the way through Saturday.

Be sure to remain weather aware as we head through the next few days.

You can also track the storms as they move in, and zoom into your road by following along with our interactive radar.

You can also follow Region 8 on Twitter and Facebook, with up to date alerts for watches and warnings.

The Region 8 Storm Team will continue to track the storms and break into programming if necessary.
