JONESBORO, AR  (KAIT) – A local woman was arrested for aggravated assault after she made a shank out of a toothbrush and stabbed another woman multiple times at the Craighead County Jail, according to an incident report.

According to police, Linda Lenora Johnson, 51, of Jonesboro was arrested after she reportedly stabbed Laneshia Williams, during a fight Wednesday morning. Witnesses said Johnson had made a shank by grinding a toothbrush against her bed, and then wrapped a sock around it to make a weapon.

Williams was stabbed in the face and also a bite mark on her left thumb.

Officers heard yelling coming from the female unit at 9:05 Wednesday morning. They stopped the fight shortly after it started.

Williams was in jail for failing to pay her fines while Johnson was in jail for failure to do public service work in relation to a felony drug charge.

Johnson is charged with felony aggravated assault and will have a probable cause hearing Thursday.
