KENNETT, MO (KAIT) – An investigation is underway in Dunklin County after a woman and her children were attacked during a break in.
According to Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder, officers were called to Wheeler Drive Wednesday night to a report of a woman and her two children being robbed at gunpoint.
The woman told officers three men kicked in her carport door. One man had a rifle while the other two had pistols. The victim said the men demanded money and drugs. Then they zip tied her and one of the children.
While the men were looking through the home, the woman managed to get free and take her two children into a bedroom. She then barricaded the door with a turned over dresser. The group then left the home through the bedroom window, went to a neighbor's home and called the sheriff's office.
The woman was hit in the face with the butt of a rifle and one of the children was hit in the head by a pistol. The child was taken to the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The woman told officers there was no money or drugs in the home. The suspects did take a pistol and an X-Box belonging to the victim, according to Holder.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call the Dunklin County Sheriffs' Office at 573-888-2409 or 888-2424.
