WEST MEMPHIS, AR -

(WMC) - Fourteen patients were evacuated early Friday morning when fire broke out at Crittenden Regional Hospital in West Memphis, Ark.

The fire was contained to one room on the second floor of the intensive care unit (ICU).

Fire crews got the call at 3:45 a.m. They remained on the scene working to contain hot spots.

"When you're dealing with something like this, you've got a lot of people you've got to deal with on top of rescues and fighting the fire. Yeah, it really taxes us," said Assistant Chief Jeff Jones, West Memphis Fire Department.

Hospital workers worked to find other places for the evacuated patients to stay until the fire was  put out and cleaned up.

Crittenden Regional Hospital is closed. Patients with major injuries are asked to go to Memphis for treatment.
