Auburn releases contracts for Malzahn, Pearl

Auburn has released details of coach Gus Malzahn's six-year, $26.85 million contract, which includes a $500,000 bonus if he leads the Tigers to a national championship.

Malzahn agreed to the new deal in December, but Auburn released the contract on Friday in response to open-records requests. His assistants also got extensions and raises totaling $900,000 after the Tigers won the Southeastern Conference championship and played in the BCS title game, losing to Florida State.

Malzahn is scheduled to make $3.85 million next season and receive a $250,000 annual raise up to $5.1 million in 2019.

Auburn also disclosed specifics of new basketball coach Bruce Pearl's six-year, $14.7 million deal.      Pearl's deal runs through June 30, 2020. He'd owe Auburn $500,000 if he violates his NCAA show cause order.
