Three members of the 2014 Auburn baseball team were selected in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, which concluded Saturday.

Junior right-handed pitcher Trey Cochran-Gill and senior third baseman Damek Tomscha were taken with back-to-back picks in the 17th round. Cochran-Gill went to the Seattle Mariners with the 501st overall pick in the draft, and Tomscha was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies one pick later.

In the 31st round, junior right-handed pitcher Rocky McCord was picked by the Kansas City Royals with the 933rd overall selection.

Cochran-Gill, a native of Tallassee, led the Auburn pitching staff with 28 appearances on the season out of the bullpen, going 0-2 with a 3.41 ERA and one save. He struck out 20 batters and walked just nine in 34.1 innings pitched, giving up 16 total runs with 13 of them earned.

In his three-year Auburn career, Cochran-Gill is 6-5 with three saves in 57 appearances, striking out 65 and walking 31 in 110.1 innings pitched.

Tomscha led Auburn in several offensive categories, including home runs (5), slugging percentage (.443) and on-base percentage (.436). Playing in 54 of 56 games, the Sioux City, Iowa, native was second on the team with a .313 batting average and drove in 29 runs while scoring 37 times. Tomscha was also hit by a pitch 15 times during the season to lead the Tigers and amass the sixth-most hit-by-pitches in a single season in Auburn history.

Tomscha finished his two-year Auburn career with a .293 average, 12 home runs and 55 RBIs.

McCord, who came to Auburn from Spanish Fort, appeared in five games during the 2014 season, all in relief, and did not record a decision. In 2.2 innings of work, he gave up one earned run for a 3.38 ERA while walking four and striking out five. McCord also had one at-bat during the season, recording a pinch-hit single against Coppin State on March 19. In three years, McCord is 2-1 with a 4.17 ERA in 45.1 innings pitched across 22 appearances.

Auburn has had at least one player selected in the MLB draft for 40 consecutive seasons, which ties for the second-longest active streak in the Southeastern Conference.
