Martins raise $130,000 for Coaches vs. Cancer

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina basketball coach Frank Martin and wife Anya raised nearly $130,000 for Coaches vs. Cancer in a benefit last month.

Martin and the school announced results of the fundraiser Friday. Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Martin said there were over 250 people in attendance at the "B-Ball of the South," a Kentucky Derby-themed ball that featured a live auction. The ball raised $129,470.

Martin said it was a great night of fun and entertainment and that event committee members did a first-class job in putting on the ball.

The Martins are longtime supporters of the Coaches vs. Cancer and have attended similar events through the country.
