130 Cosby H.S. students retaking SOL tests due to alleged teacher assistance

Posted: Updated:
CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

About 130 Cosby High School students now have to re-take their SOL tests after the state Department of Education received word from Chesterfield County Public Schools of alleged inappropriate assistance by a teacher.

Right now the DOE says test results will not be affected.

Chesterfield school officials said students at Cosby High made administrators aware of a "testing irregularity" during the initial SOL exam given to students back in May.

The school system reported this to the DOE, who determined that the school would have to re-test five classes of about 130 students. Now the DOE says that irregularity was alleged inappropriate assistance during the sol testing by a teacher.

The school system would not share any details on this, but said this incident remains under investigation. It's being handled as a personnel matter, officials said.

Students are retaking those tests today, and should get their results in a timely manner.
