Man arrested for stealing car in store parking lot

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Aman was heading to his car in the parking lot at Walmart on Parker Drive whenemployees told him his car was stolen.

According to an incidentreport by Jonesboro police, officers were called to the scene to look for thestolen car.

They found the car onNettleton and Main Street a short time later and pulled the driver over.

Police asked TonyPoindexter, 40, to step out of the car with his hands up, but when Poindextergot out of the car, he ran from police.

After a short chase,police arrested Poindexter on Madison and took him to the Craighead CountyDetention Center.

He is set to appear incourt on June 16th.

He faces felony chargesfor theft of a vehicle and misdemeanor charges for fleeing and criminal mischief.

Witness told policePoindexter turned the car on by moving it back and forth.

    According to Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble, a person was being held Sunday in the Randolph County jail after being taken into custody by Arkansas State Police in connection with the deaths of two people.
