Man arrested for stealing car in store parking lot

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A man was heading to his car in the parking lot at Walmart on Parker Drive when employees told him his car was stolen.

According to an incident report by Jonesboro police, officers were called to the scene to look for the stolen car.

They found the car on Nettleton and Main Street a short time later and pulled the driver over.

Police asked Tony Poindexter, 40, to step out of the car with his hands up, but when Poindexter got out of the car, he ran from police.

After a short chase, police arrested Poindexter on Madison and took him to the Craighead County Detention Center.

He is set to appear in court on June 16th.

He faces felony charges for theft of a vehicle and misdemeanor charges for fleeing and criminal mischief.

Witness told police Poindexter turned the car on by moving it back and forth.

    According to Blytheville Police Captain Scott Adams, an 18-year-old man was arrested Monday on suspicion of two counts of capital murder in connection with a Nov. 2016 shooting.
