JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A shooting victim quickly turned into the shooting suspect in Jonesboro Saturday afternoon.

According to a Jonesboro police report, officers responded to a shooting yesterday at 1204 Cartwright.

Michael Richter, 25, told police someone tried to rob him and shot him in the ankle. After Richter was transported to the hospital, police found he lied.

He admitted to police he accidentally shot himself. Police arrested Richter and since he was on probation they searched his home.

Once there, officers met with Kelly May, 26, and told her that the home would be searched. May helped police search for the gun and found the gun in the bedroom. While searching the rest of the home, they found Richter was growing marijuana.

Both Richter and May are being held at the Craighead County Detention Center.
