JONESBORO,AR (KAIT) - The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas received some much needed helpon Monday.
They wereawarded a $1,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Cross County.
The Directorof Development for the food bank, Vicki Pillow, said this money is sorelyneeded. Arkansas is currently tied with Mississippi as the state with thehighest rate of food insecurity in the country.
"We serve over5,000 individuals at risk of hunger in our 12 county service area," saidPillow.
"So, you canimagine every community out there has hundreds of people if not thousands ofpeople in need of food assistance every week."
The food bankreceived another grant for more than one thousand dollars from the MississippiCounty Community Foundation.
