SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Gov. John Kitzhaber ordered all flags to fly at half-staff in honor of the victims of two school shootings in the Pacific Northwest in a one-week span.

All flags at public institutions will be lowered between sunrise and sunset on Tuesday as Oregon pays tribute to Emilio Hoffman, who was shot to death in the boys locker room at Reynolds High School, and Paul Lee, a Beaverton college student shot and killed at Seattle Pacific University.

"In one week, we lost two young Oregonians to shootings at Reynolds High School and Seattle Pacific University," Kitzhaber said. "We've learned this week that Emilio Hoffman and Paul Lee both liked to make people smile, had kind hearts and were embarking on opportunities at new schools."

Hoffman played soccer for Reynolds High School and in local club leagues. He also coached a U-7 team for two of his younger brothers.

Lee graduated from Westview High School, where he became known for his easygoing nature and infectious smile.

"I am devastated to know their potential and dreams were cut short by senseless acts of violence," Kitzhaber said. "To the family and friends of Emilio and Paul, their school communities, and emergency responders, we stand with you."
