Student sues JCPS principal, teacher and fellow student over claims she was bullied

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A lawsuit has been filed against school officials and a student at  a Jefferson County Public School. The suit claims the principal and a teacher at Moore Traditional High School did not do enough to stop a student from being bullied.

The suit was filed by the mother of Natalie Scott, a 17-year-old Moore student. Scott claims she was attacked by a classmate in 2013. The suit is against Moore Traditional High School Principal Vicki Lete, teacher Michael Short and the student who allegedly attacked Scott.

Scott claims she asked the student to "keep it down" and then was brutally attacked by her in the hallway and had to go to Kosair Children's Hospital for treatment.

The suit says the student was suspended for 10 days and was allowed to return to Moore. Scott says she was bullied on social media and switched schools for her safety.

JCPS declined to comment.

WAVE 3 News spoke with the mother of the student who is named in the suit. She says she wasn't even aware of of the lawsuit. She says her daughter no longer goes to Moore and is getting her high school degree through a JCPS online program.

She also says her daughter has gone for anger management counseling and has done community service since the alleged incident.
