SPRINGDALE, Ark. (MILB.com) - RHP Andy Ferguson did not allow a run until the seventh inning of Wednesday's matinee and was supported with eight runs en route to an 8-2 series finale win over the Arkansas Travelers (0-2, 34-38). Northwest Arkansas (2-0, 27-45) won the final three games of the series after dropping the opener and clinched its seventh series win of the season.
Ferguson (5-6) went seven and two thirds innings, the longest outing of the season logged by a Naturals' starter, allowing just two runs in the contest. He has gone at least seven innings in three of his last four starts and has allowed just five runs through 27.1 innings (1.64 ERA) during that stretch. He picked up his fifth win of the season and has earned a victory in three of his last four starts.
Offensively, the Naturals exploded for two home runs and six doubles while tallying eight runs for the second time this series. The club plated three in the fourth and two in the fifth putting the game away. RBI doubles by Jorge Bonifacio and Mark Threlkeld led to the three spot in the fourth, while Cheslor Cuthbert and Max Ramirez each doubled home a run during the following inning.
