Miss Georgia contestants visit Midtown Medical

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Miss Georgia Pageant kicks off Wednesday, June 18 and the reigning Miss Georgia Carly Mathis as well as the 2014 contestants visited the Children's Miracle Network at Midtown Medical Center.

The ladies took tour and made crafts for the children.

Today we talked to Miss Rome Heather Burgess on what this experience means to her.

"I want to be a nurse practitioner so being able to get involved with the Children's Miracle Network is such a privilege and being able to really just dive in and invest in the kids that we get to visit and the activities that we get to do to promote the hospital is such a wonderful opportunity for us today," Burgess said.

We will have the winner of the 70th annual Miss Georgia Pageant live in our studios this Sunday on the news at 6, so stay tuned
