WASHINGTON, DC (POOL/CNN) – Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are taking a closer look at how electronic cigarettes are marketed, especially to kids.

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation held a hearing Wednesday on "aggressive e-cigarette marketing and potential consequences for youth."

Experts called in to testify included the heads of several prominent campaigns to fight youth smoking, as well as the president of an e-cigarette manufacturer.

The FDA proposed strict regulations on e-cigarettes in April, but those rules are still being written.
