ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Looking for some fun places to take the kids this summer? Sue Rodman, publisher of the popular blog Field Trips with Sue, has ideas on venues in Atlanta that you can visit for free.

One of Rodman's favorite places to take her family is the Dunwoody Nature Center, which never charges admission. The center features a creek where kids can splash around and explore nature, a giant tree house and a wetland boardwalk.

Rodman said several metro Atlanta cities have public pools with free hours. Two of her favorite pools are in Piedmont Park and Chastain Park, both in the city of Atlanta.

Nature lovers also can check out a Georgia State Parks Pass from any local library, then pick up a Junior Ranger book at the ranger station. Kids who complete the activities can earn some cool patches.

Several retail establishments offer free crafts, said Rodman. The Home Depot and Lowe's offer workshops and clinics. Each child receives a kid-sized apron to take home and a craft to build on site. Bass Pro Shops offers a free summer camp for families with various activities like shooting bb guns, casting and a different craft each week.

Rodman was featured Thursday on Better Mornings Atlanta.
