LITTLE ROCK, AR  (KAIT) – The Arkansas Court of Appeals rejected an appeal out of Mississippi County against a man convicted of raping a two-year-old girl and sexual indecency with a five-year-old boy, according to court documents.

Robbie Ward of Mississippi County was convicted of rape and sexual indecency with a child on August 15, 2014. A jury sentenced him to 36 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction.

Ward filed the appeal, arguing that the evidence used against him was insufficient and that testimony used by one of the victims should not have been used in the trial. He also argued that statements made by a social worker who testified were hearsay.

The court ruled that the testimony by one of the victims should not have been allowed, but "the error was harmless", according to court documents.
