JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) –Jonesboro police searching for a wanted man instead found more than three pounds of pot.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday officers went to an apartment in the 2100-block of Cedar Heights searching for a man wanted on warrants. According to the report, approximately two weeks before officers had served a search warrant at the apartment for illegal narcotics.

When they arrived they found 23-year-old Charon Dewayne Casey sitting outside.

After receiving permission to enter the apartment, officers say a woman ran from the back bedroom carrying a black and gray duffel bag.

According to the initial police report, when she saw police, the woman dropped the bag onto floor and ran out of the apartment.

Officers say Casey then picked up the bag and carried it to a closet.

When asked what was inside the bag, Casey reportedly responded "clothes."

But police say instead of clothes the opened bag contained a set of digital scales and 3.5 pounds of marijuana separated into 20 plastic baggies.

Officers arrested Casey and took him to the Craighead County Detention Center where he was charged with possession of a Schedule VI drug with the purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The woman was stopped by police and questioned. According to the incident report, she was not charged.
