Randolph County Authorities Searching for "Dangerous" Escapee

POCAHONTAS, AR - Authorities in Randolph County this morning are continuing their search for an inmate who escaped from the county jail in Pocahontas early Wednesday night.

Sheriff Brent Early says 27-year-old Arlis Greathouse apparently escaped by climbing a razor wire fence.  Despite cuts to his hands, Greathouse scaled the fence and made his way to freedom.

Dogs and a helicopter were used in the search for the escapee last night, but to no avail.  Early says Greathouse should be considered a threat to anyone who might cross his path.  "Whether he's armed or not, we don't know at this point.  But yes, he can be dangerous.  He has a lot of potential for danger.  He assaulted a lady here, and also punched a man inside his residence," said Early.

Greathouse was jailed on aggravated assault charges, and apparently is wanted in Missouri on similar charges.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-feet-9 inches tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds.  He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black & white inmate pants.  Anyone with any information as to his whereabouts is strongly urged to contact the Randolph County Sheriff's Office at 870-892-8888.
