The free phone sailing app live broadcasts each racing boat's GPS track and turns them into a Google Earth based 3D race replay that anyone can watch on raceQs.com.
Redwood City, California (PRWEB) June 21, 2014
The new sailing technology start-up, raceQs.com, broadcasts the GPS tracks and performance data of 420 boats participating in one of the world's largest overnight regattas, the Fæder Regatta beginning in Oslo, Norway. 240 boats had live broadcasting on for their families and supporters back at the yacht club.
We believe that this is the largest 3D race broadcast that anyone has ever attempted, said Sergey Lubarsky, CEO of raceQs.com. Running both this massive regatta, and the New York Yacht Club Rolex Regatta Replay concurrently set a new record at our company for the most tracks recorded in one day.
A Silicon Valley Startup, raceQs' is a company made of actual sailors who were looking for a way to bring the expensive technology used by the pros to the everyday club sailors. Their motto pretty much sums up the company philosophy. We believe that improvement is the real fun in sailboat racing, and our technology helps sailors of every level improve their performance on the course.
RaceQs' animated 3D replays are quickly spreading to clubs around the world as an easy, free way to broadcast and record regattas. The unique 3D format makes it easy for sailors to evaluate and critique their performance together. Sailors who aren't using the app yet can join the 3D replay by uploading their GPS tracks after the regatta. To get a regatta replay started, just follow these simple instructions from raceQs.com.
RaceQs is a privately funded sports technology startup. Our mission is to help people of all levels improve their sailing performance, whether you are competing in the America's Cup, or drag-racing your neighbor in homemade dinghies. We succeed if you keep improving and we fail if you have failed. RaceQs' sailing system is a collaboration of the vision and feedback of hundreds of sailors.
